Our Vision
Lichfield Gateway - Phase 1 Birmingham Road Masterplan
Lichfield Gateway represents the flagship first phase of the wider Birmingham Road Site Masterplan. Our proposed housing development aspires to create a timeless addition to the fabric of Lichfield – one that respects the city’s cherished heritage while looking confidently to the future. Designed with sensitivity to its historic surroundings, the scheme seeks to enhance the existing character of the area through thoughtful architecture, materiality, and landscaping.
Lichfield Gateway is the latest flagship regeneration project led by CB Collier, redefining the Birmingham Road Site, as the first phase of a high-quality new neighbourhood for the city. Located opposite Lichfield City Station, the apartment-led scheme will establish a distinctive gateway into the historic centre. It will be sensitively designed, guided by an adopted design code and shaped through extensive community engagement.
The development will deliver contemporary homes, green spaces, and amenities that respect Lichfield’s heritage whilst supporting its future growth.
Future phases of the Birmingham Road Masterplan include:
Much needed new homes, including provision for affordable housing
A new Linear Park linking the station to the city centre
A boutique hotel to welcome visitors to the city
High-quality public realm and green infrastructure
Flexible commercial and leisure spaces to complement the wider city offer
Lichfield Gateway will provide a sustainable, people-focused environment that enhances the city’s identity and creates a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.
Guided by a team of regeneration experts, we’re breathing new life into this landmark site — transforming it into Lichfield’s vibrant flagship gateway and a destination the city can be proud of. As a key gateway into the city, the site presents a rare opportunity to redefine an important urban moment. The vision is to stitch the development seamlessly into the treasured grain of Lichfield, balancing tradition and modernity to create a place that feels rooted, authentic, and enduring.
The architecture will not only respond to its context but also uplift it – offering a vibrant residential community that strengthens the city’s identity and creates an elegant, welcoming frontage for residents and visitors alike.
At its heart, this is about placemaking: delivering much-needed new homes in a way that celebrates Lichfield’s unique character, enriches the everyday experience of its people, and ensures the city continues to thrive for generations to come.
